Tired of waiting at the doctor's office filling out paperwork?
You can help us expedite your first and/or future visits by filling out our new patient forms after you schedule your appointment at 704-752-1900. Additionally, you can either email a scanned copy of your insurance card to ballantynepediatricdentistry@hotmail.com or fax it to 704-831-6444. Please read our "Before the First Visit" section below to find out how you can make your child's first dental visit a great one!
PRACTICE GOALS
To have your child grow up to love coming to the dentist.
To have both you and your children understand the benefits of preventive dental care for a long-lasting, healthy smile.
BEFORE THE FIRST VISIT
Speak positively about the upcoming visit.
Practice counting your child’s teeth and let them know that Dr. Scott will be doing the same.
Do not use the words, “shot, hurt, pull, needle, etc.” or anything else that may frighten your child. There is nothing worse than telling a child that they should, “Be good or else the dentist will give you a shot.”
Inform the Ballantyne Pediatric Dental Team of any special concerns, medical history, or problems with previous dental visits.
Prior to the visit, you will be sent a new patient packet with multiple forms. Please fill them out completely and return them. If you are able to include a photocopy of your insurance or information, it will expedite the check-in process. You may also fax this information to 704-831-6444. Additionally, please have any current x-rays transferred or inform the staff where the x-rays may be obtained.
Be ready to see the coolest dental office ever and being jealous of where your child gets his/her checkups!
AT THE FIRST VISIT
Dr. Scott will review the medical history, and both you and your child will get to take a tour of the office.
Unlike many other pediatric dental practices, we welcome parents in the back for the child’s initial and check up visits. If you are comfortable with your child going back on their own, that’s fine, too.
There is a computer with high-speed internet access for you and your child to use. Please do not bring food/beverages to the computer or kids’ play areas.
There are video games and TV/DVDs for the children to enjoy. The video games/joysticks are available at the front desk. We also have appropriate books/learning toys, dolls, and stuffed animals. There are TVs in the ceiling above every dental chair, so your child can watch TV, bring their favorite DVD, or select from our numerous age-appropriate DVDs.
Check out the blue water faucet in the patient/parent restroom.
Please supervise your children at all times when they are not in the treatment area.
Please do not leave the office while your child is in the back.
If your child is over the age of 6, we recommend you letting your child come back on their own.
Younger children do better for morning appointments. We want them to have a great visit which is hard to do around afternoon nap time. This is why children under the age of 6 should be seen at morning appointments. While we realize this may be inconvenient for your schedule, it is important to remember that it is what is best for your child to have a positive experience.
DENTAL TREATMENT
While your child is receiving fillings, we ask that you wait in our reception room. It is important that this policy is followed so that your child can receive Dr. Scott’s full attention. Please keep in mind that your child may be fearful if they witness anxiety on your part.
Check out our site and get to know us a little better. There are games to play while waiting for your appointment or if you would like to meet the staff, please click here
